Day 1

Airport – Negombo

our representative will meet you at the airport shortly after your arrival in Sri Lanka. Here’s to an interesting vacation ahead, and your first stop will be Negombo, an important fishing village on Sri Lanka’s western coast. After a 30-minute journey, you’ll arrive at your hotel to check in and then head to the beach for a delectable seafood meal.

After a delicious supper, unwind at a comfortable hotel in Negombo. Stay at Negombo for the night.

Day 2

Negombo – Sigiriya

After breakfast, you’ll go on an exhilarating boat journey across the Negombo lagoon, weaving through the mangroves and reaching the interesting coastal location “Lellama.”

Following that, you will travel to Habarana. Your drive to Kurunegala will take you on a scenic path through rice paddy farms. To begin, pay a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage to meet some of Sri Lanka’s most famed residents. You may get up close and personal with these massive beasts as they feed and bathe in the glistening waters of the Ma Oya River. After lunch, travel to Sigiriya, which is part of the country’s rich cultural triangle. In the late afternoon, climb the mesmerizing rock stronghold of Sigiriya, a 5th-century stronghold in the Sky. See urban and sub-urban living styles, wide meadows, diverse vegetation, roadside stores, and rustic rural life on the way to Habarana.

Finally, you will end your day by checking into your Habarana hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

Sigiriya – Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya

Start your day with breakfast before exploring Polonnaruwa Mediaeval City, Sri Lanka’s second capital dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries. The remnants of the Royal Palace, sculptures of King Parakramabahu, the arching Parakrama Samudraya, and much more can be seen at this World Heritage Site. After immersing yourself in Sri Lanka’s history, you will go on a village culinary tour to sample real Sri Lankan food.

You will prepare your village lunch with village people, and you will meet and interact with village families as they share their lives and tales with you, allowing you to experience the pulse of the rural people and village life in Sri Lanka. You’ll also observe how fresh ingredients are gathered from the local area and how lunch is prepared using firewood.

After a freshly prepared Sri Lankan-style lunch (traditional rice, lentils, fresh veggies, fried fish, and more) served on a lotus leaf, you will bid farewell to the locals and depart in the evening for an exciting afternoon jeep safari in Kaudulla, Minneriya, or Eco Park. The main attraction is the Elephant Gathering, which is thought to be the world’s largest gathering of Asian elephants. It takes place during the dry season, from June to October, when the rivers dry up and the elephants are forced to travel to large reservoirs in Minneriya, Kaudulla, Kaudulla, or Eco Park to find drinking water. The remainder of the time, go to Kaudulla, Minneriya, or Eco Park to hear elephants roar in the bush.

This is an exciting sight and experience, as well as a memory to treasure for the rest of your life.

After an amazing 3-hour safari in the bush, you will be driven to your hotel in Habarana for supper and an overnight stay. Stay the night at Sigiriya.

Day 4

Sigiriya – Kandy

Today you will arrive at Kandy, the hill capital surrounded by greenery and the beautiful Mahaweli River. The term Kandy invokes romantic images of a vanished hill kingdom, a lake, tea plantations, and a famous temple in people. Learn about the city at your leisure, and pay your respects to the golden-roofed Temple of the Tooth Relic, which holds Sri Lanka’s most revered relic, a tooth of the Lord Buddha. Admire the gentle hill-country winds that cause the mist to separate, exposing colorful buildings among Kandy’s wooded halo. Visit the vibrant marketplaces and Upper Lake Drive.

Attend a dance performance showcasing traditional dances from several districts of Sri Lanka to pick up the pace. Return to the comforts of a cozy private home in the hills—an ancient manor house perfect for honeymooners!

Dinner and an overnight stay in Kandy are included.

Day 5

Kandy

After breakfast, you will travel on a Kandy city tour to visit the Sacred Tooth Relic Temple, Kandy’s main attraction and a symbol of sovereignty housed in exquisite splendour. The Esala Perahera, held in August, is a must-see. This amazing extravaganza honours Lord Buddha’s Sacred Tooth Relic. Following your visit to the tooth relic shrine, you will travel around Kandy Lake, savouring the tranquil and breathtaking environment combined with nature’s beauty.

The famed Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, a spectacular 57-hectare area that contains the finest of tropical flora, fragrant spices, and rare medicinal plants, will be your next stop. Enjoy a lunch beneath the shaded orchards while taking in the natural splendour before embarking on the Kandy City Tour and shopping. During this trip, you will view the main attractions of the hill capital and have the opportunity to shop to your heart’s delight. In the evening, you will be treated to a vibrant cultural extravaganza with traditional Sri Lankan dances and pageantry. The vivid event will attract you with its colourful costumes, beautiful dances, and oriental music, making it a memorable experience.

After supper, you may unwind into the night at a local bar, where you can interact with the people and witness and experience the local nightlife and occurrences first-hand. You will dance the night away to the vibrant reggae music at the bar, followed by a supper with a view of the city from the balcony and an overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 6

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

Breakfast will be served before departing for the Kandy railway station.

You will take an adventurous train excursion to Nanu Oya (depending on availability), which is a 3-4 hour rail adventure through gorgeous scenery. The train excursion across the gorgeous hill region is one of Sri Lanka’s most spectacular explorations. View the mist-capped mountains’ branching valleys, slope-rich green tea plantations, communities filled with dwellings, deep woods, and whooshing waterfalls from the brink of rising mountains. Continue driving until you reach Nuwara Eliya, where you will check into a hotel and rest until the evening.

Nuwara Eliya is a hill country city and one of the most prominent tea-producing areas. It is highly recognized for its cold climate and for being the coolest location on the tropical island. The city retains its old beauty with well-kept colonial buildings and private residences with English-style lawns and beautiful gardens, earning it the nickname “Little England.” After a breezy walk around Nuwara Eliya City and around the famous Gregory Lake in the evening, have a local drink prepared by your personal chauffeur while viewing the gorgeous panorama of Lake Gregory and colonial houses with flowering gardens.

You will then eat supper before spending the night in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 7

Nuwara Eliya – Colombo

En route Devon Falls and St. Clair’s Falls will be visited. Devon Falls, also known as the ‘Veil of the Valley,’ is one of Sri Lanka’s most stunning waterfalls, located near Talawakelle town. It was named for Devon, a pioneer English coffee producer whose property was adjacent to the waterfall. St. Clair’s Falls is one of the country’s widest falls. These waterfalls are a stunning sight to see, so take as many photos as you can. Optional On the road to Colombo, you may go white water rafting in Kitulgala. For all adventure seekers and environment aficionados, this is the most popular place in Sri Lanka for white water rafting, bird viewing, boating, trekking, and hiking.

You may have an exciting ride over the rough seas and take home a memorable moment to last a lifetime!

You will continue driving to Colombo, and once there, you will spend the evening at the magnificently manicured ‘Diyatha Uyana Park’.

After supper, you will check in and spend the night in a hotel in Colombo.
